This celebratory compendium, designed for the Garden Club of America's 100th anniversary, features its rare and storied botanical and garden book collection. Working closely with the editor Arete Swartz Warren, Florio Design conceived a “dessert cart” of sumptuous printed illustrations of flowers, fruits, birds and garden plants. This book highlights the refined skill of printers, engravers and illustrators, mostly pre-dating photography. Gardening by the Book utilizes an irregular grid to allow the art and texts covering several centuries to weave together throughout. Florio Design’s approach emphasizes rhythm, scale, a focus on distinctive details and generous space to showcase the exceptional botanical images.
